This Privacy Policy explains how CallingPoint ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our mobile application. Our core philosophy is that your commute is your business. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring a transparent, secure experience.
1. Information Collection and Use
We do not collect, store, or share any personal data.
CallingPoint does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal information to use the app. We do not use any hidden tracking software, analytics frameworks, or advertising SDKs to monitor your behavior or device usage.
2. Journey Planning, Live Boards, and External APIs
To provide you with live departure boards, multi-modal journey routing, and mapping capabilities, CallingPoint communicates directly with the National Rail API, Transport for London (TfL) APIs, and OpenStreetMap/OSRM routing services.
- Search & Route Requests: When you search for a station, view a live board, or calculate a multi-modal route, those requests are transmitted over a secure connection to retrieve real-time transport data.
- No Tracking: These data requests are processed ephemerally in real-time. We do not store your search history, locations, or favorite routes on any external servers. Any saved preferences (such as pinned stations or saved journeys) are stored locally and securely on your own device.
3. Financial Data and In-App Purchases
CallingPoint is a free application that includes an optional tip feature.
- All transactions are processed entirely through Google Play Billing.
- At no point does the CallingPoint app collect, intercept, or store your credit card information, bank details, or personal billing address.
- We only receive an anonymous confirmation from Google Play that a purchase was successful so we can display a thank-you message.
4. Third-Party Services
While we do not collect data, the app utilizes essential external APIs and services to function. These providers maintain their own privacy policies governing data usage:
- National Rail Data Portal & TfL Open Data: Used for live train, tube, and bus arrivals.
- OpenStreetMap & OSRM: Used for map tiles and walking/transit route geometry.
- Google Play Services & Billing: policies.google.com/privacy
5. Children's Privacy
Because we do not collect any personal information from any users, we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes to how the app operates, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this policy. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.
